Clio Manage has completely streamlined our firm’s operations. The interface is intuitive, and the cloud-based access means our team can work securely from anywhere. Time tracking, billing, and document management are all seamlessly integrated, and the reporting tools provide valuable insights into firm performance. The integrations with Microsoft 365 and Clio Grow are especially powerful, allowing us to automate tasks and reduce administrative overhead. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There’s a bit of a learning curve when setting up more advanced features, but Clio’s support team and knowledge base make it easy to get up to speed. Occasional updates can slightly shift the UI, but they’re always improvements in the long run. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Strong database and interoperability. Texting feature is good. There's enough depth that you can track the way you want.
The accounting software is very good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Search feature is weak-great in the case and client names, but fails to correctly search custom fields. For example, if you have case numbers set up as a custom field you can ONLY give a complete search parameter-so you need to enter the full case number, but it won't search for the last four digits.
Some of the organizational choices are odd.
The AI isn't strong.
Finally, when you create a contact and add info-ie phone numbers-when you look at them later that will be labeled as other even though you entered it as mobile. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I was the Managing Partner of a boutique law firm that purchased a license to Time Slips in the early 2000s. We migrated to Amazon Web Services as a host for our billing program and the iManage document management system (DMS). When Timeslips and iManage stopped supporting individual licenses, we needed to migrate to a new cloud solution. I was very apprehensive about learning a new billing software platform, but I am so glad that I took the risk. It is more stable, intuitive, streamlined, and fun to use. I highly recommend!! The customer support made the data migration painless and without a glitch. It took approximately 30-60 days to fully implement, and the process went smoothly. I use this program every day for most of the day and love the timer, which allows me to record my time accurately and honestly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Pros: ease of use, ease of migration, ease of integration, cost, quicker pay, and more straightforward reminders to delinquent accounts.
Cons: payment processing fees for clients who pay by eCheck or credit card. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Clio Manage has completely transformed the way our firm operates. From the moment we implemented it, we noticed a significant improvement in our workflow, communication, and overall efficiency. The platform is incredibly intuitive and offers a robust set of features tailored specifically for legal professionals.
Time tracking, billing, document management, and client communications are all seamlessly integrated. What used to take hours across multiple systems can now be done in minutes with just a few clicks. Clio’s automation tools—especially for invoicing and reminders—save us time and ensure nothing falls through the cracks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While Clio offers tiered pricing, many of its most useful features (such as advanced reporting, document automation, or custom fields) are locked behind the upper-tier plans. When you add on Clio Grow for client intake and CRM, the overall cost can be significant. For smaller firms or solo practitioners, this may feel like a hefty investment that doesn't always justify the return. The task and calendar systems are serviceable but feel basic and sometimes disconnected. For example, tasks don’t always sync intuitively with events or matter workflows, and recurring task setup lacks flexibility. This can lead to inefficiencies in complex litigation or transactional practices with multiple moving parts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's incredible. The ease of use, the amount of features they pack in, the way they think of everything that you could need that specifically pertains to the legal field, everything is so well thought out and well-organized here. It's your central hub for all of your files, your documents, your contacts, everything! And it automates so many things, even without the "automations" add-ons! It automatically sends text and email reminders to clients about events (i.e., court dates), both when you create the event as well as the day before the event happens! And even without Clio Draft, it still does a decent amount of automatically creating documents from templates that you upload, so that you can just press a button, wait about 30 seconds, and you have a fully written, perfect document ready to sign and file! And everything comes with a more than friendly staff who are always ready to bend over backwards to help you. Also: they are ALWAYS upgrading things, so the value actually increases over time; since they will upgrade and add new features, new looks, and new integrations while keeping the price the same! In the 2.5 years I've used it, they've only increased the price once and it was still WELL worth all the stuff they give you! I cannot say enough about Clio, and will recommend it to anyone considering a legal software! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some of the functionalities bug out at times. But mostly one of the downsides is that it takes a lot of front-end work; if you really want all of your documents to be automated as templates, you have to sit down and create those templates one by one and upload them to Clio. This is not a lot when you do it for a few documents, but it really adds up when you want every possible document in your practice to work this way. Other than some weird signs that show up when you run Clio programs (like the one that lets you edit your docs while they still remain in the cloud), but are basically harmless, there's not a whole lot else! And some of the customer service people are nice but don't know how to fix your problem. But it depends on the person, and you can always ask someone else in their department. Clio Complete makes legal practice management seamless, especially for drafting documents in our family law practice. The platform is well-organized, making it easy to share files, communicate with clients, and document interactions efficiently. Its cloud-based accessibility and integrations enhance collaboration and streamline workflows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While it’s a powerful tool, some advanced customization options could be improved. Certain features require a learning curve, and pricing might feel a bit high for smaller firms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I love the interface, so easy to find everything and it looks visually pleasing. Customer support is also very responsive and there to assist with any questions or concerns that we have Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
One thing I would love to see Clio add is the ability to write cheques in the program rather than having to do it in an external program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It would be helpful to be able to have the credit card fees billed to the client when they make payment similar to how Heartland does it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
